So this weekend we enjoyed our second to last training weekend before Everest Base camp.

We stayed in a surprisingly roomy YHA hostel where we enjoyed a cooked meal from our resident chef Dave (Rays Brother).

The following morning we started with a cooked breakfast before heading to the hills.

We started by heading towards Grisedale Tarn, before reaching the tarn we deviated up towards Dollywagon pike, our first peak of the trip, from here we had great views of Thirlmere looking north revealed our goal of Helvellyn. we continued over High Crag and Nethermost pike before passing the infamous Striding edge to the East. From here it was a short amble to the summit of Helvellyn

After enjoying our lunch (thanks again Dave), we headed down Swirral edge hitting our final peak of Catstye Cam, from here it was a moderate walk back down to the Patterdale Hotel for a well earned pint… or three.
